How Vercel Pro pricing works

Vercel Pro has a $20 monthly platform fee, with one deploying seat and $20 in usage credit. Your total also depends on additional paid seats, your CDN billing option and metered usage. The table below shows how those charges compare with Easel.

What the estimate assumes

  • The same usage on both platforms. Moving a workload can change its execution time and concurrency, so treat function costs as a starting point.
  • Vercel's iad1 (Washington, D.C.) rates and Easel's North America rates, in USD, before tax.
  • Flat Rate estimates assume a tier sized for your usual monthly traffic. Above the largest tier, the calculator shows an on-demand estimate and says so.
  • Builds, ISR and runtime cache, image optimization, origin transfer, Blob, and add-ons such as SSO or Observability Plus are left out.
  • Pro plans only. Vercel's Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial projects.

How to lower your Vercel bill

Start with the largest charges in your usage dashboard. These checks can help you understand what to change before your next billing cycle.

Check who needs a paid seat

Vercel Pro includes one deploying seat. Additional paid seats cost $20 each per month. Collaborators who only need to view deployments, check analytics and leave comments can use free Viewer seats. Review each person's needs before changing their role; Viewers cannot deploy or configure projects.

Compare your CDN billing options

Compare Flat Rate CDN and on-demand pricing using your usual monthly traffic. A fixed tier can help with predictable costs and traffic spikes; on-demand can be cheaper for some workloads. Check the request capacity, transfer capacity and eligibility rules before choosing. The calculator lets you compare both options for the same inputs.

Find what is driving function usage

Function costs come from invocations, active CPU time and provisioned memory. Start with the project contributing the most usage, then investigate its busiest and slowest routes. Waiting on a database or API pauses Active CPU billing, but provisioned memory continues while requests are in flight. Measure cost and response time after each change.

Understand Vercel Function charges

Set alerts before usage becomes a surprise

Set a spending threshold and choose how Vercel should respond. Notifications alone do not stop usage. Pausing production can interrupt your site, and periodic checks mean some charges can continue after the threshold is crossed. Review those tradeoffs before treating a budget as a spending cap.

Questions about your Vercel bill

Where do I find my Vercel usage?

Open your team in the Vercel dashboard and go to Usage. Pick one full billing cycle and copy the CDN Requests, Fast Data Transfer, Function Invocations, Fluid Active CPU and Fluid Provisioned Memory totals. Deploying seats are the Owners and Members under team settings; Viewers are free. Then choose “Adjust the numbers or use your own” in the calculator and enter them.

Why doesn't this match my Vercel invoice?

The estimate uses iad1 rates; traffic and functions in other regions cost more. It leaves out builds, ISR, image optimization, Blob, origin transfer and add-ons. Flat Rate CDN tier changes take effect from the next billing cycle, so a month that spikes past its tier is billed differently from the steady month this estimates. And Vercel's own pages disagree on one figure: vercel.com/pricing lists 10M CDN requests included on Pro, while the Pro plan and Flat Rate CDN docs say the included tier is 1M requests and 1 TB. We follow the docs.

How does Flat Rate CDN change the calculation?

Flat Rate CDN uses a fixed monthly tier for covered traffic. This calculator estimates a tier from your usual usage. If the workload exceeds the largest tier, it shows an on-demand estimate and labels that fallback. Your current tier and traffic spikes can affect your actual invoice. Check Vercel's capacity and eligibility rules before changing plans.

How do deploying seats affect the bill?

Vercel Pro includes 1 deploying seat. Each additional Owner or Member is $20 a month, so a team of five that deploys pays $100 before any usage. Viewers are free. Easel Pro is $20 for the workspace however many people deploy.

Which charges are excluded?

Builds, ISR and runtime cache reads and writes, image optimization, Fast Origin Transfer, Blob, firewall and WAF, Observability Plus, and paid add-ons like SSO, password protection or static IPs. Both platforms bill most of these at similar rates; ask us for a full comparison if they're a big part of your bill.

How are Vercel Functions billed?

On Fluid compute, three ways: $0.60 per million invocations, $0.128 per hour of Active CPU (time spent computing, not waiting on I/O), and $0.0106 per GB-hour of memory while an instance serves requests. Those are iad1 rates. Pro includes no function allowance; usage draws on the $20 credit.

Can I lower my Vercel bill without moving hosts?

Yes. Review paid seats, compare CDN billing options and investigate the projects driving function usage. The tips above explain what to check. Any saving depends on your workload and the access your team needs.

When is Vercel cheaper than Easel?

It depends on the mix of seats, traffic and function usage. Vercel can cost less for bandwidth-heavy or compute-heavy workloads. Easel's lack of seat fees can favor larger teams, but other usage charges can offset that saving. The breakdown shows which parts of the bill drive the difference for your inputs.
